Narrow Gauge Workshop, Nagpur was established in the year 1879 to cater the maintenance need of rolling stock of the then Nagpur Chhattisgarh State Railway.

 Initially the Workshop was dealing both Broad Gauge and Narrow Gauge rolling stock.

 After establishment of Kharagpur workshop in 1909 all Broad Gauge Rolling Stock repairs were

shifted there. Then after Motibagh workshop was mainly engaged with the assembly & POH of
the
Narrow Gauge Stock.
 

Four wheeler Tower Wagons (Mk-II, III & IV) are overhauled in Motibagh Workshop since 1996.

TWs of CR & ECoR are also attended at Motibagh.

 From April 2003, this workshop came under S.E.C. Railway after trifurcation of erstwhile S.E.

Railway.

 

From Oct 2009, Workshop started attending IOH of ICF trolleys and from Feb-2011, POH ofICF

coaches.

From Nov 2018, SS-I schedule attention to LHB bogies has also been started.

 Now workshop is attending SS-II schedule of LHB coachestoo.

 From Sept 2021, Under RKVY (Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojna)

Training for Welding is initiated.
